Flight Simulator Coordinator

1.0 Duties And Responsibilities

The Flight Simulator Coordinator (FSC) will be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the simulators. The FSC will also configure simulators to meet the day’s required missions.

The schedule for this role will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Flight Simulator Proctor’s Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Serves as the main point of contact for students and instructors for flight simulators.
  • Provides instruction on how to use/setup simulators for both students and instructors.
  • Swaps out panels if required for simulator missions.
  • Makes efficient use of unscheduled simulator time through walk ins.
  • Enforces simulator rules like no food or drinks that could potentially damage sensitive equipment.
  • Verifies that flight simulators are being powered down properly when not in use.
  • Performs daily inspections on simulators, simulator panels, and any other simulator critical equipment.
  • Collaborates with maintenance personnel to ensure there are no single points of failure. Backup panels and spare parts should be kept on hand in the event a simulator needs to be serviced.
  • Reads simulator manuals and builds a preventative maintenance program/schedule to reduce flight simulator downtime.
  • Maintains the created maintenance schedule for planned maintenance events on all flight simulators.
  • Responsible for ensuring simulators are SQUAWKED. A SQUAWK is an aviation term used to describe an out of service aircraft/simulator.
  • Rapidly responds to SQUAWKED simulators by immediately notifying maintenance. If maintenance is unable to address the issue in a reasonable time frame if at all, the Flight Simulator Proctor will be responsible for bringing in a 3rd party vendor ASAP.
  • Forecast simulator needs for AeroGuard’s short- and long-term goals in relation to the amount of current/suspected student headcount projections. Makes recommendations to purchase additional simulators before they are needed.


2.1 EDUCATION

  • High school required


2.2 Experience

  • 3 years experience working with electronics preferred
  • 1 year experience working with Redbird flight simulators preferred
  • 1 year experience working with Frasca flight simulators preferred


2.3 Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to diagnose electronics issues
  • Ability to diagnose software problems
  • Good understanding of Microsoft office Word, Excel
  • Ability to forecast usage
  • Ability to work with customers
