The Splicing Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing splicing operations and GC’s in the field for OSP Construction Projects. Reporting directly to the Division Manager, this role involves leading a team of splicers, ensuring efficient deployment of resources, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout the splicing process.


Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee splicing operations for Outside Plant construction projects, including fiber optic cable installation, termination, fusion splicing, and testing.

  • Develop and implement splicing plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure timely completion of projects within budget and to customer specifications.

  • Build, lead and supervise a team of splicers, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to maintain productivity, quality, and safety standards.

  • Attend deployment and customer meetings as a subject matter expert, building and maintaining customer relationships that may result in influencing customers to award service work.

  • Conduct regular site visits during all phases of construction, providing direction to general contractors and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

  • Understand prevailing rates for construction work and negotiate costs within project scope, holding vendors accountable to maintain budgets.

  • Manage inventory of splicing equipment, tools, and materials, ensuring they are properly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to coordinate splicing activities and resolve any technical issues or challenges that may arise during construction.

  • Ensure work is assigned and performed to meet required completion dates while ensuring compliance with company construction standards, processes, and procedures.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements related to fiber optic splicing and Outside Plant construction.

  • Qualifications:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications, with a focus on Outside Plant construction and fiber optic splicing.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.

  • Familiarity test equipment and techniques for performing RF sweep test, OTDR, Power Meter and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing.

  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.

  • Clear driving record + valid driver's license

    • Not required, however highly recommended Bicsi or FOA or any formal telecommunication or fiber optics training.


    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Hourly Rate Range: $39.00 - $43.00 DOE
    • Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage, Supplemental Insurance through Aflac, & 401K plan
