Position Description

Sensei Ag is hiring a Fertigation and Pest Management Associate to directly assist the Growing team in key activities to ensure precision irrigation and the control of pests and diseases on the farm, implement measures to minimize the risk of damage to plants and its fruit, and ensure quality produce is available to meet company standards and customer.

Responsibilities

  • Water sample collection.
  • Basic maintenance of irrigation equipment.
  • Monitoring and calibration of irrigation levels as needed.
  • Compliance in record keeping and computer data entry.
  • Nutrient recipe preparation (weighing, mixing, loading, distribution).
  • Stock organization and management.
  • Basic maintenance of fumigation equipment.
  • Pesticide equipment operation.
  • Crop Scouting, documenting findings, completing inspection reports, and providing reports to IPM Lead/Head Grower.
  • Comply with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety, Health and Safety, and company policies and procedures; ensure standards consistently meet expectations.
  • Other core responsibilities as defined by the company.

Minimum years of experience required

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in agricultural production.

Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Must be in good physical health for respirator use in pest and disease control applications.
  • Basic knowledge common computer skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel.)
  • Effective at collaborating with various teams; excellent interpersonal and communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow company Safety Practices and procedures.
  • Must be fluent in reading and writing English.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights (e.g., on a ladder.)
  • Must be able to work in greenhouse environment with exposure to humidity and heat.

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Pesticide license.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and tools are a big asset.

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Two (2) year diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field, preferred.

Compensation

  • $14.42-$24.04 / hr
