Family Specialist

A social services organization in New York City is looking to fill an immediate need with the addition of a new Family Specialist to their growing team. In this role, the Family Specialist will be responsible for integrating family goals and restoring and strengthening the individual's unique social group and family relationships.

About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Assignment length: Ongoing (Contract to Hire)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm (1-hour paid lunch)

Responsibilities:

The Family Specialist will:

  • Provide clinical services that are client-centered, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, evidenced based, anti-racist, and gender-responsive
  • Advocate for the rights and preferences for individuals within the ACT program.
  • Attend and participate in daily team meeting to discuss individual's case management and clinical needs.
  • Facilitate family psycho-education group/sessions to help individual's families and/or support network learn and have better understanding of mental diagnosis and treatments
  • Ensure all documentations are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all progress notes are completed within 24-48 hours of the delivery of service
  • Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services, on a rotating basis
  • Act as advocate and liaison for individual in relationships with family, support systems, landlords and other community supports
  • Attend case conferences and coordinate discharge planning with hospital
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience working in Human Services with individuals with Serious Mental Illness
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field
  • Clinical experience in Crisis Assessment and Treatment
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring substance use disorders
  • Experience understanding family systems based on diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Solid assessment and documentation skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized

Desired Skills:

  • Bilingual
  • Computer savvy (60 wpm)
  • Microsoft Office proficient (Excel, Teams, Word, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Zoom / WebEx
