Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Facilities Assistant will clean designated areas of the CD8 Navigation Center during high traffic times of the day. This position must provide clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly, and satisfying surroundings for the employees and public. The Facilities Assistant promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors.
Essential Functions
Operating Various mechanized equipment (vacuums, polishers, buffers etc.)
Clean and sanitize showers and restrooms in between client use
Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings
Cleaning areas contaminated by human waste and proper disposable of human waste and other bodily fluids
Disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials
Handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, windowsills etc.
Empty trash containers throughout the day (periodically checking)
Wet mop and sweep floors in all bathrooms, staff bathroom, hallways, stairs, and lobbies daily
Clean wash basins, mirrors, and commodes daily
Maintain exterior of facility such as parking lot, entryway,
Report needed repairs (leaky faucets, toilets, lose tile, broken furnishings or equipment, missing nuts or screws, etc) immediately to supervisor and submit facility request as needed
Check entire area for spills, water, etc. periodically.
Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services. Monitor hygiene areas for safety
Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High School Diploma or GED equivalent or 1-year relevant work experience.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
The Facilities Assistant will work in an office setting. S/he may be exposed to aggressive, sometimes noisy, loud, and disruptive clients and must work in conjunction with other staff members, interface with courts, LA County Probation, Sheriff’s Department and Mental Health Departments and other community agencies. There is some responsibility to work in noisy environments where adults are free to talk loud and expressively
Physical Requirements
This position demands good physical and mental health. The Facilities Assistant will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule, must be able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds
Mental Requirements
The Facilities Assistant must be able to handle any/all of the following: interruptions, changes in priorities/work schedules; be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.
