Summary
MR04 – Starting rate dependent on candidates experience and qualifications
This position inspects for insects/wildlife and work to identify and prevent pest issues. The Exterminator works directly with the appropriate personnel to control the issue by accurately identifying, selecting, mixing, and safely applying chemicals, traps, or by using engineering controls.
Duties, Skills And Abilities
Employs a wide range of mechanical, chemical and other options to eliminate pests which infest buildings, rooms, work areas, and surrounding areas; studies preliminary reports and building diagrams to determine the best treatment options required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation; decides best options for placement of traps and baits for attracting animals. Cleans work site after completion of job; keeps records of work performed.
Follows directions, labels, and laws in accordance with, but not limited to, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, EPA, OSHA, the Department of Health and Environment, etc.; communicates with students, parents, faculty, staff and any other customers, or businesses, on campus.
Ability to work in small/confined spaces; ability to lift, bend, kneel, crawl, etc.; must be able to work in extreme temperatures and heights.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent
Must have, or pass the CO7 TDA Certification with in the first two months of the hire date.
Must be able to wear a respirator and pass medical respiratory exam.
Must be able to receive a rabies inoculation. Must have a valid Tennessee State Driver’s license.
