Experienced Medical Billing Specialist

Job Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to bill all insurance claims and patient statements, as well as to collect all insurance and patient monies due to the company, and all the related activities to do so. The Billing Specialist is expected to meet the department’s deadlines, productivity and quality standards, as well as maintain an AR within the company’s metrics.

Core Billing Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete Raintree EMR Charge/Medical Record Review and any required coding edits
• Prepare billing data and complete Pre-Submission Audits. Submit claims through Clearinghouse.
• Generate client statements, electronic and/or paper.
• Work Clearinghouse Rejections and ensure billing is resubmitted.
• Complete any necessary rebills and corrected claims.
  
  

Core Collections Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete timely AR Follow-Up on Insurances and Clients.
• Properly notate accounts of all billing and collections activities.
• Investigate all short pays and denials within timely guidelines. Submit reconsiderations and appeals as appropriate.
• Process client credit card payments for clients who do not pay via portal.
• Complete collections activities for clients with balances owed. Recommend client accounts for submission to collections.
• Complete Payment Posting, both manual & auto, for all insurance and client payments received.
• Review and work all client and payer claims/payments related correspondence. Scan onto accounts.
• Submit adjustments and write-offs for approval.
  
  

Essential Requirements

• Strong knowledge of medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and healthcare insurance regulations
• Previous experience working in medical billing, particularly in a high-volume outpatient care setting
• Extensive experience navigating an EMR (preferably Raintree)
• Extensive experience navigating payer portals, clearinghouse portals
  
  

When it comes to compensation, you'll be in the range of $22-25per hour. Actual pay rates vary based on many objective factors including skills, certification, years of experience, and specific work location.
