Summary:

Responsible for working within the Environmental, Health and Safety group in support of key Operational and Technical initiatives. Lead, coordinate, and provide oversight of environmental, safety/health programs and processes at the facility. Assure compliance with regulatory requirements, Chobani company policies, and continuous improvements in key identified measures and objectives. This role will oversee the EHS agenda for coffee roasting, concentrate and warehouse facilities located within the Philadelphia area. This role will report to the Snr EHS Manager located in Michigan.


The responsibilities of this position include:

Performs workplace safety & environmental inspections and audits.

  • Facilitates and oversees near miss and injury investigations to determine root cause(s) and offers recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Responsible for managing EHS practices; administer/implement EHS programs and policies outlined by OSHA, EPA and DOT as appropriate and maintain all pertinent records.

  • Ensure implementation and continuous improvement to all safety related programs and policies including, but not limited to: Hazardous Energy Control Program, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Bloodborne Pathogens, Electrical Safety Program, Chemical Management, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, PIT Safety, Respirator and Emergency Action Plan

  • Ensure implementation and continuous improvement to all environmental related programs and policies including, but not limited to: Air Permitting, Water Permitting, Waste Water, Hazardous Chemical Disposal, Chemical Storage and Spills and Stormwater management.

  • Develop training and instruction methods with respect to plant-related potential hazards and occupational safety measures.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership and teamwork skills with the proven ability to set a vision,

    manage change and work with higher level managers to accomplish goals.

    Work with all levels of staff to ensure the health and safety program and policies are understood and upheld as a priority and value.

    Ability to analyze complex information to make appropriate decisions and judgments.

    Ensure controls and metrics are in place and sustained to monitor progress of the site’s health and safety initiatives.

    Conduct safety inspections that address and correct regulatory compliance, ergonomics and improve associate health and safety while also providing compliant corrective actions.

    Prepare written reports for site inspections with recommendations for corrective or preventive measures while ensuring items are completed.

    Guide and mentor Chobani leadership on incident investigations and action plan development with documented follow up.

    Collaborate with Human Resources in the consistent administration of safety accountability guidelines.

    Works productively and harmoniously with others on a consistence basis while maintaining a professional demeanor.

    Lead site Safety Committee and subsequent follow-up actions.

    Perform other duties as assigned.


    1. Work Environment / Physical Requirements

    Must be flexible to support the hours of the manufacturing environment including nights and weekends as required. At times, inspections require working at heights, outdoors or in refrigerated conditions.


    Time split between Plant (production floor) and Office environments; Walking, Climbing Stairs, Hot Environments, Cold Environments, Loud Environments, Wet Environments.

    Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods and climb stairs.

    Minimal lifting requirements up to 25lbs.


    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required

    1-2 years of environmental, health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

    Professional certification GSP or ASP preferred

    Experience and knowledge with OSHA regulations, OSHA recordkeeping requirements and Environmental regulations

    Good understanding of health and safety issues, regulations, and technology which impact the processes associated with the manufacturing function

    Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

    Excellent MS Word, Excel, Power Point and computer skills
