Reporting to: General Manager


Responsibilities


• Has a thorough understanding of our company’s products, processes, and capabilities to serve our customers.

• Trains the engineering team and serves as a resource to the engineering staff and other functions in resolving technical issues.

• Serves as a technical representative of the company in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with

customers while gaining an understanding of their businesses, organization, and technical needs. Provides technical support to

sales.

• Provides strategic leadership in developing the company’s products, processes, systems, policies and procedures and setting the

future direction of the engineering function.

• Develops effective relationships with the leadership and organization to be able to provide effective technical support to sales

and marketing in serving our customers and promoting our products and services.

• Hires, trains, directs, motivates, evaluates, and rewards the engineering team to meet the company’s objectives. Takes

corrective action as necessary to correct performance issues.

• Manages the product development process.

• Manages product engineering.

• Drive value engineering projects for process improvements and automation.

• Manages and provides technical support to manufacturing cost reduction initiatives.

• Monitor performance to ensure that the engineering team maintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required.

• Oversees compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations for the engineering team.

• Develops / approves Capital Expenditure Budget and individual Capital Expenditure submissions for approval.

• Support sales target accounts consistent with the overall division sales strategy.

• Leads the effective implementation of new programs and products.

• Maintain an awareness of any sales quotes within the application team, customer issues needing engineer involvement to

resolve as well as any changes in product, & industry trends.

• Maintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required.

• Manage the Engineering Co-Op and Intern program.


Requirements


• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical engineering is required. A master’s degree and P/E certification is preferred. Has

the necessary training to be proficient in the position.

• Has a minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience and/or has demonstrated a level of performance and leadership to

qualify for the Engineering Manager position. Additional manufacturing experience would be preferred.

• Previous successful experience in a formal or informal engineering leadership role.

• Has a strong manufacturing background with lean and process improvement experience.

• Has successful product development experience and knowledge of the Stage-Gate process.

• Has an in-depth knowledge of metallurgy, heat treating, machining, and surface treatments.

• Has a strong customer orientation and is able to effectively communicate, build relationships, present ideas, and lead people to

meet customer needs and achieve business goals.

• Able to understand and utilize financial statements as a management tool.

• Has excellent computer skills and is proficient with all related company systems and programs.

• Has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demands.

• High energy with a sense of urgency in responding to customer needs.

• High level of personal and professional integrity.

• Is committed to the company’s values.

• Attention to detail in maintaining required records and reports.
