Job Description
JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Facilitates disaster response or crisis management activities. Coordinates delivery and/or content for disaster response training, including but not limited to Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) & National Incident Management System (NIMS). Prepares emergency plans and procedures to address emergencies (i.e. tornadoes, blizzards, floods, earthquakes) as outlined in the Hospital Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA). The Coordinator will serve as a liaison with other hospitals, internal and external committees and task forces, first response agencies, LEPC, and government representatives. Serves in a command staff or general staff position during public health drills/exercises and provides guidance for HIC during actual emergency event responses.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE. Ability to design, host, and facilitate stakeholder presentations, exercises, and drills. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. Ability to design, host, and facilitate stakeholder presentations, exercises, and drills. General administrative skills such as strategic and tactical planning, research and report writing, training and education techniques, interpretation of technical information, general computer skills, oral presentation skills, the ability to coordinate diverse work units, and to manage multiple projects and priorities. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with a variety of people. High level of interpersonal skills needed to effectively coordinate programs for a variety of audiences and effectively represent the hospital to outside agencies.
EDUCATION: B achelor's degree or equivalent required. Healthcare experience or work in healthcare organizations preferred. Two years’ training and experience required in one of the following areas: Emergency Planning and Management, Emergency Based Medicine or Emergency Medical Services.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: ICS 100 and ICS 200 required, ICS 700 & 800 preferred or must obtain within first 6 months of employment.
