JOB POSITION: SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

WORK DESCRIPTION:

Electrical power distribution and control systems design, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited US University with concentration in electrical power and control systems.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or hold Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and be capable of obtaining the PE license within 18 months of hiring date.

Hold valid US State Driver’s License.

EXPERIENCE:

DESIGN COMPETENCY

Have good technical writing skills and proficiency in utilizing the following software programs in preparing technical documentation, engineering reports, design plans and specifications:

General Office Software

Microsoft Office – Edge, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word.

2D and 3D Design and Modeling

AutoCAD – Single-Line diagrams, Three-Line diagrams, Control Schematic diagrams, Wiring diagrams, Conduit plans, Lighting plans, Grounding plans, and Shop Drawings.


Revit 2019 Modeling – MEP design.


Bluebeam Revu Modeling – Redlines, markups, and shop drawings.


Power System Design and Analysis

SKM Power Tools – Single-Line diagrams, Coordination of Overcurrent Protection Devices and Time-Current Coordination Curves (TCC), Arc Flash Hazard studies, Arc Flash Hazard Label design, Short Circuit studies, Power Load Flows, Cable Ampacity, Cable 3D Pulling calculations, and Ground Mat Design.

  • ETAP - Single-Line diagrams, Time-Current Coordination Curves (TCC), Arc Flash Hazard studies, Arc Flash Hazard Label design, Short Circuit studies, Power Load Flows, Cable Ampacity, Cable Pulling calculations, Underground Cable Thermal calculations, and Underground Raceway design.


    Have knowledge and experience is applying the following codes and standards in specifying equipment and preparing installation design plans and specifications:

    National Electrical Code (NFPA-70) – Service/Feeder/Branch Circuit Load calculations, Conductor ampacity, Equipment ratings, Circuit voltage drop, Conduit percent fill, OCPD ratings, Cable Tray fill, Hazardous Area classifications and Raceway design, EV Chargers, PV systems.


    Recommended Practice for Electrical Equipment Maintenance (NFPA-70B) – Equipment maintenance program development.


    Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA-70E) – Electrical Hazard Analysis and mitigation strategy development.


    National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA-72) – Specification and placement of Detection and Notification Devices.


    TESTING, COMISSIONING and TROUBLESHOOTING

    Have proficiency in utilizing the following test equipment and software programs to work in the field with Meade union craft labor crews on commercial, industrial, and utility jobsites around the US Midwest region:

    Routine Electrical Tests

    Contact resistance test (Ductor/DRLO)


    Insulation resistance test (Megger)


    High Potential Test (Hi-Pot)


    Transformer Turns Ratio, Excitation and Winding Resistance (TTR)


    Cable Fault Locating (Thumper)


    Ultrasound Testing (UltraProbe 10,000 and 15,000)


    Protective Relay Testing (Omicron CMC353, CMC356)


    Power Quality Analyzer (AMEC 3945 and 8335)


    Power Energy Logger (AMEC PEL-103 and PEL-105)


    Phasing and Rotation Testing including Synchrophasors


    Equipment Oil and SF6 Gas sampling.


    Electrical Testing and Commissioning Software

    ABB Circuit Breaker Monitoring – Sentinnel CB Insight and CB Terminal


    Beckwith Electric – Beckwith TapTalk for Transformer Tap Changer set-up and monitoring.


    EATON OCPD – Power Xpert Protection Manager for Programming and Verification of TCC Curves in Protective Devices.


    GE Digital Relays – EnnerVista Software to program and troubleshoot Multilin relays.


    Linkware – Testing results and data management from Linkware Live.


    Omicron – Test Universe software for Operating CMC353 and CMC356 Test Sets.


    PLC Programming – “CLICK” software.


    Qualitrol – ITM Manager for Transformer operations monitoring and control.


    SEL Software, including:


    AcSELerator Quickset to program protective relays

  • AcSELerator Diagram Builder SEL-5035 to create HMI screens

  • SynchroWAVe Event to identify and read tripping events from protective relays.

  • AcSELerator RTAC to set up Real-time Automation Controller and protective relays.

  • UE Spectralyzer – Ultrasound Electrical Testing.



    LOCATION: Meade Corporate Headquarters, 625 Willowbrook Center Parkway, Willowbrook, IL 60527. Daily report to office unless on field assignment.
