Ramsey Solutions is looking for a highly skilled Editorial Director to help create original content alongside our national bestselling personalities - Dave Ramsey, Rachel Cruze, John Delony, Ken Coleman, George Kamel and Jade Warshaw - that drives $2M-$3M in revenue every year. What You’ll Do
Work with our Ramsey Personalities to develop life-changing books that consistently hit national bestseller lists.
Finalize error-free content regarding CMS and Ramsey Solutions style guidelines, typographical errors, grammatical accuracy, and readability.
Contribute to ideation during discovery meetings and help shape the editorial flow for each book.
Attend writing meetings and coach collaborative writers, helping them learn the Ramsey way of making books.
Review early drafts of chapters from personalities and collaborative writers and provide feedback.
Copyedit book manuscripts or manage copy editors, collating editing onto master document for typesetter.
Perform the developmental edit for all books and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
Be an advocate for the content, ensuring consistency of voice and message, by reviewing copyediting marks and overseeing typesetting and proofreading as well as contributing to title brainstorming and marketing messaging.
Write sales copy, galley copy, and dust jacket copy.
Responsible for galley production.
Communicate deadlines and project updates to the department leader and Publishing leader.
Participate in project planning and scheduled meetings.
What You’ll Need
10-15 years of book editing experience in a professional publishing house setting.
Deep familiarity with the publishing and editorial process from start to finish—and a willingness to unlearn a lot of what you know.
A care about creating exceptional transformational content as well as the craft of delivering it well.
An adeptness and appreciation for working collaboratively.
Demonstrated flexibility and problem-solving throughout the book process.
Proficiency in editing on paper with standard editing marks and electronically with Microsoft Word’s “Track Changes” feature (familiarity with Adobe InCopy is a plus).
Highly familiar with The Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) and/or AP Style, and provides a thorough, detailed review of all manuscripts prior to publication.
