Editorial Director, Real Simple Commerce

Dotdash Meredith is looking for an editorial director to oversee Real Simple's evergreen commerce business. The editorial director will oversee Real Simple’s day-to-day testing and editorial strategy, ensuring the smooth publishing of new content and article updates. The right candidate has a history of covering shopping-related topics for a major digital publisher, an understanding of how to craft an article to optimize both user experience and search discoverability, and a passion for creating lifestyle content.

This role will report to a VP of Commerce and lead a team of full-time employees and freelancers.

In This Role, You Will Be Expected To

• Define and implement an editorial strategy for the Real Simple evergreen team, focusing on delivering fresh, high-quality product recommendations to readers.
• Manage a team of editors and staff writers, working with them to identify new content ideas and update existing articles while adhering to brand voice and style.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including product, editorial, testing, and SEO teams, to prioritize projects alongside the team’s regular content calendar.
• Identify industry trends and track interesting product launches to keep Real Simple’s editorial content up-to-date across a wide variety of topics.
• Lead and participate in meetings to review metrics, discuss content improvement ideas, and provide a progress status on the editorial roadmap.
• Use editorial judgment to oversee the addition of on-page features, such as inline video, charts, graphs, images, and more.
• Test and review products for coverage on Real Simple, providing detailed feedback, photos, and video of products.
• Occasionally contribute to other Dotdash Meredith commerce teams, including participating in sales events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon Prime Day.
• Hybrid 3x a week- New York
  
  

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week

Qualifications

• A minimum of 7+ years of experience in digital publishing.
• At least 3 years of experience specifically in commerce content.
• Management experience spanning 2 or more years.
• A genuine passion for products, especially in the home space.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
