Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Early Childhood Specialist.
In this role, the successful candidate The Early Childhood Specialist serves an integral role in the Early Childhood programs in that he/she unifies the programs curricular practices under the guidance of the Director of Early Childhood Services. The Early Childhood Specialist has knowledge of the DOHMH/DOE/UPK/DAP/NAEYC/Quality Stars New York/Creative Curriculum/ITERS/ECERS/CLASS/ASQ/DYCD standards and monitors compliance in all of the Early Childhood Programs under Sunset Park Health Council. The Early Childhood Specialist provides technical assistant and support to teaching staff. The Early Childhood Specialist presents and /or arranges for professional development opportunities that speak to programmatic needs and staffs interest for the directors, teachers, substitutes, and families. The Early Childhood Specialist also works collaboratively with the Early Learn network to expand professional development opportunities for our staff.
Job Responsibilities
Monitor the implementation of standards across all early children programs
Observe early childhood classrooms’ environment, lessons, instruction, interaction, relationships, and tone
Provide written and verbal feedback based on research and observations to teachers and directors to improve classroom environment, instruction, and ECE programs
Work with Teachers to define individual goals for children and plan instruction strategies
Work with Teachers to define age-appropriate group goals
Work with teachers and directors to determine professional development needs
Observe individuals in early childhood classrooms and provide feedback to teachers and directors regarding individual planning for DA individual goals
Serve as a resource for teachers, directors, and families
Provide PD sessions related to programmatic / curricular needs
Provide PD opportunities to early childhood teachers, directors, substitutes, and families.
Meet with staff to review observations, create work plan, and set professional goals
Provide additional resources for staff to meet their professional growth goals
Provide and / or arrange workshops for parents and families
Remain informed and educated about research and issues facing early childhood programs, and children and families, especially within the communities we serve
Provide instructional support, resources, and professional development for school age program.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify you must have a MSED in Early Childhood Education (required)
Teacher certification in the early childhood or childhood grades (required)
Preferred Qualifications
extensive early childhood teaching and coaching experience;
knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for children ages 2 months through 5 years of age; experience coordinating staff development workshops;
knowledge of NAEYC accreditation and Quality Stars standards and Creative Curriculum;
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,415.19 - $74,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
