Distribution and Materials Superintendent

Neapco is currently seeking to fill the position of full-time Distribution and Material Superintendent. This position is based out of our Belleville Drivelines Manufacturing location. Compensation dependent upon qualifications.

Job Description: Distribution and Material Superintendent

General Responsibilities

The Distribution and Material Superintendent oversees and ensures the timely distribution of material to the customer base.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Utilize customer demand in ERP system (PLEX) to create daily / weekly ship plans to customer base.
  • Publish customer production and downtime plans.
  • Review and manage inventory audits.
  • Must be able to clearly demonstrate advanced skills in distribution.
  • Ability to reduce complex supply chain concepts into succinct and relevant language while simplifying process through continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles including working capital and inventory turn metrics.
  • Develop, maintain, and report metrics that measure schedule attainment and align to customer on time delivery requirements.
  • Work closely with Production Manager providing timely status updates related to customer shipments and recovery plans for missed shipment commitments.
  • Responsible for distribution and inventory staff, which may include planner, material control and plan for every part (PFEP) owner role.
  • Ensure that all personnel working under your supervision adhere to and fully comply with the Company’s Code of Conduct and ethics.
  • Collaborate with cross functional team including sales, operations, engineering, quality and purchasing.
  • Complete performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues, and procedures as appropriate.
  • Partner with the senior management team to translate strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives, which include the development and tracking of KPIs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expert knowledge of technical regulations and legislation related to the field.
  • Expert knowledge of customer portals (Ford, GM, & Stellantis)
  • Experience working with unions.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MRP required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, distribution of goods and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of lean techniques is preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in a key leadership/management role in a manufacturing facility (automotive manufacturing experience required)
  • Previous experience in managing planners, schedulers, analyst and logistics.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to optimize team performance and development.
  • Strong business acumen (management principles, strategic planning, critical thinking, budgeting, resource allocation, human resources, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, Logistic, Supply Chain or related field with 5 plus years of experience in manufacturing and at least 3 years as a supervisor/manager is required.
  • At least 5 years' Distribution experience is preferred.
  • APICS certification and Master Scheduling and LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position will have 4-5 direct reports.

Iatf Responsibilities

The IATF responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Other responsibilities may be added with or without notice in writing, at any time.

  • Maintenance of the job descriptions for the salary team members.
  • Coordination of training for salary team members. Assist in supporting training for Hourly team members.

Language Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, along with strong active listening skills. The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents. The ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, team members, regulatory agencies, executives, or members of the business community. Must have the ability to write presentations, internal communications, and process manuals and instructions that conform to prescribed styles and formats. Have the ability to effectively present information to all levels of business and external audiences.

Mathematical Skills

Have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to prepare budgets using Excel applications. Must be able to cost labor expenses.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and work and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
