JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Residential Learning is the senior administrator responsible for planning, directing, implementing and assessing Residential Learning programs at Clemson University. Serves as the primary Clemson Home connection to the academic mission of the university, creating departmental policies in compliance with University academic policies and procedures. Responsible for department of over 15 staff, faculty, and graduate student staff. Serves as a College of Education liaison for coordination of multiple sections of a leadership class. Significant budget oversight responsibilities. Must possess strong creativity, initiative, and the ability to promote and advance initiatives independently. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

30% - Essential - Residential Learning Operations - Provides leadership to staff/teams responsible for fostering residential experiences that facilitate the development, implementation, and assessment of robust opportunities for learning and growth for residential students and staff. Directs the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, & development of undergraduate student, graduate student, and full-time staff employees. Serves as ACA liaison to HR. Contributes to the development, implementation, & evaluation of residentially-based academic communities and curriculum including living-learning communities, faculty-in-residence, residential colleges, & other programs intentionally designed to promote student learning & contribute to retention and academic success. Responsible for faculty-in-residence program. Promotes student leadership within residential communities.

20% - Essential - Staff & Faculty Supervision - Directs the recruitment, selection, training, & evaluation of a dedicated staff that includes full-time professionals, faculty-in-residence (and other faculty support roles), graduate assistants, administrative staff, and interns. Provides direct supervision to full-time level staff and faculty; provides indirect supervision and mentorship to additional team members. Promotes & encourages staff professional development & involvement in relevant professional associations.

20% - Essential - Administration & Management - Serves as a key member of the Clemson Home senior management team and Division of Student Affairs department heads. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, assists in establishing the purpose & vision as well as long-range goals and objectives that contribute to the on-campus student experience. Leads strategic planning processes. Represents division and/or department on committees, task forces, and at special events as needed. Works closely with other colleagues to maintain cohesive, collaborative, and well-balanced partnerships across internal and external constituencies. Serves on Emergency Management Committee (EMC) 4-deep response list. Acts on behalf of the Assistant Vice President as requested.

15% - Essential - College of Education Liaison - Designs course curriculum and coordinates multiple sections of EDSA 3900 each semester (~150-200 students annually). Develops course logistics, including teaching schedules, classroom locations, textbooks, syllabi and instructor manual, and student workbook. Coordinates registration for students into the course. Provides training and ongoing support for all facilitators of the EDSA 3900 sections. Manages course delivery in CANVAS. Primary contact for the College of Education.

15% - Essential - Assessment - Provides oversight of assessment efforts related to student learning and development for residents, student staff, and academic partners. Serves as Assessment Liaison to the Division, with responsibility for inputting Residential Learning and Residential Living dashboard metrics. Inputs information and approves submission for annual report. Utilizes data, research, and best practice to inform and make sound decisions as a department leader.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree - and relevant program management experience.

Work Exp 0+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - 1st Master's Degree - and full-time experience in housing/residential life admin. Work Exp 7+ years

Experience in course instruction.

Experience developing, implementing and assessing residential curriculum.

Demonstrated work utilizing learning outcomes and assessment.

Compensation Information

Expected Salary Range: ($ 66,892.00 - $ 110,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
