JFF's #NoDeadEnds campaign calls for bold policy actions to expand opportunities for learners and workers, especially those who are stuck without #qualityjobs and face systemic barriers to advancement. But who are these bold policies designed for? Read JFF's new No Dead Ends policy road map to learn how our federal and state policy recommendations are designed to serve: 👨🎓 The two-thirds of Gen Z students who are worried about taking on college debt for a postsecondary pathway that doesn’t lead to a quality job. 💻 The more than half of adults who believe they need to gain new skills to prepare for the impacts of artificial intelligence and other seismic changes to the economy. 🔑 The one-third of U.S. adults with records of arrests, convictions, or incarceration who face a complex web of rules and regulations that exclude them from pursuing jobs they’re qualified for or can learn to do. 👶 The tens of thousands of people in this country who are forced to stay home from work each month because of child care issues. 💼 The disproportionately large share of Black workers who are employed in low-wage jobs and who face occupational segregation in high-wage, high-quality career fields. No Dead Ends is a set of specific, actionable policy solutions that will enable us to achieve the ambitious goal we at JFF have embraced as our North Star: By 2033, 75 million people facing systemic barriers to advancement will work in quality jobs. 🎓 As higher education institutions grapple with increasing polarization and ideological conflicts, the need for colleges to adapt to the 21st century has never been more urgent. We're witnessing seismic shifts in admissions: the Supreme Court has banned affirmative action, and Virginia has banned legacy admissions. Plus, more Gen Zers are questioning the value of college amid rising costs and a greater emphasis on skills-first hiring from employers. Join our panel of experts, David Wilson, Tressie McMillan Cottom, and Ted Mitchell at Horizons as they delve into strategies for navigating the shifting landscape of higher ed. Recharge & Refocus  JFF’s Commitment to Employee Well-Being Dear Friend,      As we enjoy our first full month of summer, I’m writing with an important scheduling announcement from Jobs for the Future (JFF): we will be closing this summer every Friday between August 2 and August 30 2024.     To encourage our employees to use and enjoy this time, we have asked our team members not to answer emails, produce content, schedule meetings, or do other work-related assignments on these five Fridays.      Research shows that companies who commit to employee well-being, including time off,  experience higher retention levels, less absenteeism, lower levels of burnout, and higher levels of reported employee satisfaction. We applaud the many organizations that join us in taking these steps to support workers.      Please anticipate and accommodate delays in responses during this time. Our employees are prepared to shift any standing meetings and will still be available Monday through Thursday.     I’m looking forward to using this opportunity to enjoy time with my family, and recharge after our exciting Horizons summit later this month.     Thank you for your understanding and support in our shared commitment to a strong and healthy workforce.     Please reach out if you have any questions.       Have a great summer, Maria Flynn President & CEO, JFF
