Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

Primary Objective

This is a full-time position requiring an enthusiastic leader with a passion for youth ministry. Focus is on enhancing the parish’s youth and young adult ministries with an aim to grow the number of young intentional joyful missionary disciples.

Specific Functions

  • Evolve a comprehensive plan for how the parish will form youth into intentional disciples while leading the following ministries:
    • Middle School Youth Ministry (Youth Ministry Coordinator is the program lead)
    • High School Youth Ministry
    • Young Adult Ministry
    • Assist Youth Ministry Coordinator as needed in planning and coordinating religious formation and Confirmation preparation for 7th-8th graders.
    • Create outreach programs, activities, and events to invite new youth into the life of the parish. This will include OCIA for ages (14-18). Work with Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization to ensure an aligned parish plan.
    • Implement activities and events that encourage participation by the youth as well as their families.
    • Recruit and train other adults to serve in roles such as catechist or small group leader.
    • Assist teens in discernment of their gifts, talents, charisms, and vocations.
    • Engage with parish ministry leaders to integrate young adults (ages 18-35) into the life of the parish.
    • Work with parish athletic director on plans to grow the parish’s CYO athletic program.
    • Collaborate with Directors of Youth and Young Adult ministry in nearby parishes to share best practices and coordinate certain events.


    Qualifications

    • Minimum of one to three years’ experience leading Catholic faith-based programs for high school students. Experience in developing programs for youth ministry is preferred.
    • Experience with Life Teen Curriculum for middle school or high school is preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree in theology, education, social work, psychology, or related youth-serving field is preferred. Candidates without theology training must be able to pursue a Theology Certificate through Scared Heart Major Seminary.
    • Ability/willingness to develop a vision and create initiatives designed to meet the needs of the youth culture.
