Hybrid Model: 2 or 3 days per week in the office

The role

The Director of Workplace Technology is responsible for the internal technology, systems, infrastructure, and devices our employees use around the globe. This role creates the strategy as to how workplace technology empowers our workforce and then leads the team responsible for delivering it. Our Workplace Technology function is responsible for driving productivity globally across our teams, making sure our employees have the right tools at the right time for their jobs.

The Director of Workplace Technology is a senior technology leader and partners closely with the VP of Security ensuring that as we plan, design, build, rollout and maintain technology services to a distributed global business, we are maintaining a security posture that meets our risk, compliance, and security standards.

This role champions the adoption of cloud and SaaS based technologies, putting the right technology in the hands of our people to ensure teams can automate business process, feel empowered with technology, and can work from anywhere. Workplace Technology aims to automate work and ensure our employees feel empowered, comfortable and can trust the Workplace technology team to help solve any issue, problem, or business initiative.


What you'll do:

  • Lead the Workplace Technology global team ensuring 1:1’s are in place, team members have the support, coaching and leadership needed to perform their role.
  • Build a roadmap with quarterly milestones to support the company’s business objectives and automate work. This will include a clearly articulated and measurable plan to deprecate on premise infrastructure with the view of moving all key internal systems and tools into the cloud or a SaaS equivalent.
  • Set metrics that accurately reflect the efficiency and work experience of employees, from onboarding to issue rates, to measure our current state and demonstrate the effectiveness of the roadmap you design. This will include reporting on the spend and ROI (Return on Investment) of SaaS tools such as “cost per employee per month,” and adoption of SaaS tools, showing “what teams are using what SaaS tools.”
  • Partner with Security to remediate vulnerabilities, configure systems securely, and reduce business risks. Device Management tooling, processors and operations are in place to support both Windows and Mac users.
  • Review and manage vendors to ensure stable and effective delivery of services, identify opportunities for consolidation, and removal of technologies that no longer align with the business’ needs.
  • Oversee and lead Technical Support, queue management and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) ensuring they are in place for internal support, tickets are logged and documented monthly support reporting is in place.
  • Ensure collaboration and communication tools are maintained and adopted across StarRez (e.g., Slack, Zoom, office collaboration spaces, etc.).
  • Responsible for IT Asset Management including the procurement and reporting of SaaS tools, devices, and related technologies, partnering closely with Finance.


About you:

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or 8 years of equivalent industry experience.
  • +2 Years of team leadership with global experience advantageous, to lead and mentor a global team effectively.
  • Experience in creating and executing technology strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Expertise in cloud and SaaS technologies with a focus on scalability and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets for technology initiatives
  • Proficiency in IT asset management, including procurement and reporting.
  • Understanding of IT security principles and risk management.
  • Familiarity with technical support processes, SLAs, and ticket management.


Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, especially within a SaaS or technology-driven company.
  • Knowledge of modern collaboration and communication tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom).
  • Familiarity with device management for both Windows and Mac users.
  • Experience in partnering with Finance for technology-related budgeting and reporting.
  • Experience in partnering with People Operations for onboarding/Offboarding processes to enhance employee experience.
  • Continuous learning and staying updated with technology trends for workplace optimization.
