Position Summary

As a Director of Back-Office, you will be leading the department within Services Operations dedicated to executing Major Correctives, Blade inspections and Repairs, including a Services Resources Pool. Major Correctives are considered Major Components replacements using lifting equipment (cranes) and major components repairs up tower such a Gearbox or a Generator.

You will be responsible for the Major Correctives Area, the Blades Services Area and the Services Resources Pool. Your department will be responsible for planning, defining, and executing specialty work on different sites in the US and Canada. In addition to managing your own projects, you will drive and improve new methods and solutions for Major Correctives and Blade Repairs and optimize existing concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects meet or exceed Nordex HSE legal requirements.
  • Develop and execute the Company’s North American business strategies as it relates to Services third party transactional work. Preparing business plans with Service Sales on transactional sales forecast. This consists of budgeting for the appropriate hiring staff, tooling needs, both hand tools and specialized tools associated with up tower repairs of gearboxes and generators. Ultimately ensuring that equipment and personnel are purchased / hired consistent with the first signed agreements for transactional work requirements.
  • Develop and implement business plans to facilitate and achieve through cost effective operations activities. Working with Global Technical Management department and engineering functions to improve / develop new processes that improve overall efficiency of transactional work activities. Evaluation of specialized tooling developments such as up tower crane options that can eliminate hydraulic / lattice boom cranes for major correctives work. Improving the overall costs and margins.
  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated from the top down and that they are followed and adhered too. Evaluating engineering change notices and communicating those changes in instructions to the affected personnel within your direct / indirect reporting lines.
  • Communicate and maintain trustworthy relationships with business partners to ensure company growth. Working with third party providers, ranging from personnel service provides to providers of specialized tooling and tooling development activities.
  • Oversee the financial performance of all transactional / product remediation’s activities. Forecasting cost and revenues for accurate business outlooks.
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of managers providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum results. Reviewing direct reports activities planners that they manage and progress towards the scheduled works. Review of priorities and risks associated with changing those priorities.
  • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company growth. Working with direct reports on employee issues (indirect reports), along with developmental / performance improvement plans to ensure employees are aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Follows up on deliveries from Engineering and Technical groups.
  • Monitors project progress, drafting and distributing periodic progress reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintains compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Support with Budget management for Major Correctives and Blade campaigns.
  • Support process for managing single major accidents in North America
  • Support Contractors quotes Request / Negotiation for Major Correctives and Blade activities.
  • Visit project sites, suppliers, and international support groups to facilitate successful completion of job duties.
  • Regular site audits for Scope, Quality & HSE performance of the resources at the project. Addressing findings, gaps, and any improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Degree in technical or engineering field preferred, or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of wind turbine composite blade repairs.
  • Experience on the Wind Turbines Blade field, blade structural repairs and Major Correctives of 3+ years.
  • Proven experience as Manager of other managerial positions.
  • Experience in developing strategic business plans.
  • Knowledge of market needs and cost targets.
  • Strong understanding of finance and measures of performance.
  • Demonstrated success in promoting employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and organizational support for continuous improvement efforts.
  • Experience facilitating business process improvements through the use of technology.
  • Demonstrated experience with business process improvement.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to prioritize and respond quickly in fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Able to travel 15% to support traveling teams and collaborate with support groups.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of collection methods and strategy.
  • Extensive knowledge of custom service operations.
  • Travel to project sites as required
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
