Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Wellness is responsible for wellness-related counseling and programming for Carle Illinois College of Medicine students. Duties & Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility of the Director of Student Wellness is to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of students enrolled in Carle Illinois College of Medicine (CIMED) with the goal of helping them flourish.

Counseling

  • Provide initial clinical assessments and counseling for individuals
  • May provide group counseling
  • Provide emergency triage services - limited to weekday hours when incumbent is available
  • Programs and Events
  • Develop, promote, and implement health, resilience, and wellness programs, seminars, and events
  • Work with students and oversee weekly THRIVE events
  • Collaborate with students on the annual Wellness Retreat
  • Act as adviser and mentor for any wellness-related student groups
  • Administrative
  • Develop and monitor budget for wellness initiatives
  • Program evaluation and improvement
  • Serve as college liaison to other wellness-related units on campus such as McKinley Health Center and the Counseling Center
  • Other
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Specialty Factors

Bachelor’s degree.

A total of two (2) years (24 months) in education, training and/or work experience in program planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling or closely related field
  • Licensed or license-eligible in respective field

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Must be willing to learn the medical school timeline, expectations, and stress points in order to properly assist students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills that incorporate tact and diplomacy, as well as the ability to cultivate relationship.
  • Skills and abilities to work cooperatively with all constituencies in a unique environment of engineering-based medical education in the context of the Carle and Illinois private/public relationship
  • Expert knowledge of health, resilience, and wellness
  • Dedication to furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/16/2024. Salary range is $70,000 to $90,000 and is commensurate with experience.

Sponsorship for work authorization is not available to begin this position or continue in this position.
