Essential Job Functions: The Director of Safety will lead our comprehensive safety program, ensuring the well-being of all employees and compliance with industry regulations. This role involves overseeing a team of field safety and training professionals and individuals focused on claims, risk management, and incident investigation. Develop and implement safety strategies, policies, and initiatives to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals. Lead the safety department in setting long-term goals and objectives supporting the company's mission and vision. Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on safety-related matters and risk mitigation. Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Utilize technology to monitor, report, and enhance the effectiveness of safety programs, making strategic adjustments as necessary. Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members to enhance overall safety performance. Direct incident investigations and claims management, conduct safety audits and risk assessments, and develop emergency response plans to ensure comprehensive risk mitigation and preventive measures. Oversee and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, fostering a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management across all levels of the organization. Requirements: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in the construction or utility industry. In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Experience with Captive Insurance (Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Auto). Familiarity with 3rd party safety administration (ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, MEA). Knowledge of DOT and fleet safety. Strong understanding of OSHA compliance. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage and develop a diverse team. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Certification in safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
