Position Purpose

The Director of Safety and Security plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment within CEC Network, fostering an atmosphere conducive to teaching, learning, and community engagement. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety and security programs that protect students, staff, visitors, and CEC property.

Job Duties

  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Manages relationship with CEC’s chosen SSO provider, performing regular reviews, ensuring all SSO training is performed, and ensuring all KPIs are met.
  • Conducts regular meetings with local school administration to ensure SSOs are meeting their expectations fully and contributing positively to the school environment and culture.
  • Lead the SSO roll-out process through each region of schools as CEC expands SSO services in accordance with the Governing Board’s directives.
  • Collaborates with a team to write and refine the network-wide Safe School Plan (SSP) and ensure that CEC is compliant with Colorado State Law, following CSI and CCSRC (Colorado School Safety Resource Center) guidelines as needed.
  • Collaborates with other CSI charters and local school districts to glean best practices and find ways to continuously improve CEC safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Create a safety and security strategy for continuous improvement at each CEC campus and to ensure that each school is compliant and has all their specific needs met.
  • Conduct annual Department of Homeland Security facility security assessment in collaboration with DoCCs and Facility Managers to ensure physical security is compliant.
  • Lead acquisition of school safety and security grant opportunities in collaboration with the Finance team and Facility Management team as needed.
  • Develop, lead, and manage the CEC Network safety and security team and its personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Education Administration, Public Administration, Security Management, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in safety and security management, preferably in an educational setting or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing safety protocols, emergency preparedness plans, and security systems.
