This role will also ensure that there is a solid quality alert or quality escalation process to ensure all companies, resources, and suppliers are notified early on when quality issues are identified. The Quality Director will ensure that quality awareness is at the forefront of our organization, by implementing and maintaining quality systems and processes to guide internal quality, and a robust Supplier Manual to guide our supply chains expectations for quality.

The Quality Director will ensure that quality awareness is at the forefront of our organization, by implementing and maintaining quality systems and processes to guide internal quality, and a robust Supplier Manual to guide our supply chains expectations for quality.
Essential Functions
- Determine the overall quality and continuous improvement strategy to align with Lanco’s overall strategic plan.
- Build strong quality systems for determining the appropriate infrastructure and resources required to achieve business objectives.
- Ensures there are formally documented standard processes and metrics that exist and align with the vision of the VP of Supply Chain and Quality to require the highest product quality, both internally and within our supply chain.
- Ensure that a future exists where there is an aligned Quality strategy that has the following elements of priority; Strong Overall QMS, Manufacturing Quality Policy and Process, Supplier Quality, After Market Quality Support and Presence, Move to APQP, and Warranty
- Grow quality awareness/ presence across all companies in scope (Industrial Equipment Manufacturers), through robust formal documented processes and line of sight.
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure proper interface of the quality/ CI function to manufacturing, engineering, sales, and service.
- Increase presence of Quality with Supply Chain escalation (Supplier Score Card, Quality Alert System, Supplier Audits, Supplier Award System, FAI/ PPAP process, move to APQP)
- Design, develop, and drive utilization of appropriate lean tools and champion general continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall business performance as measured by throughput/ productivity, on-time delivery performance, and quality trends.
- Travel regularly to manufacturing sites to communicate, implement, and observe best practices in a consistent manner.
- Develop and implement standard work for all manufacturing operations.
- Foster strong relationships with Lanco’s customers and vendors.
- Act as management representative for ISO requirements. Coordinate and maintain a quality system in compliance with ISO.
- Implement and maintain the necessary programs to support the corporate quality policy, quality system, and CI initiatives.
- Facilitate problem solving investigations of internal and external customer quality issues to ensure root cause is identified and timely closed loop corrective actions and reports are created, developing the team to be strong as well.
- Drive efforts to reduce COPQ (cost of poor quality).
- Ensure the best metrics exist to measure quality and that drive focus and improvements each of them by the entire Industrial Equipment Manufacturers.
- Increase global presence of quality for low-cost country sourcing initiatives to provide guidance, governance, and process to help improve the time from quote to FA.
- Align Quality and Continuous Improvement with our Digital Transformation initiatives.
- Ability to lead group improvement activity teams and manage capital improvement projects.
- Inspection and test experience in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of most quality standards and a strong acumen of testing practices and nomenclature within industry expectations of metallurgy, paint, electrical, and others.
- Robust knowledge and experience of standard work, lean manufacturing principles, and techniques.
- Strong leadership skills and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment with a primary goal of development of the team and the department at all times.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in new product planning and development.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Direct and dotted line leadership responsibilities to quality and industrial engineering support teams.
- This is primarily an office classification, and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments; travel may be required.
- Will routinely work in a factory environment with exposure to noise and machinery. Standard PPE will be required as needed (hearing protection, eye protection, safety shoes).
- Up to 50% of travel required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with a minimum of 10+ years’ quality management experience. Quality management systems experience (ISO).
- Master’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 15+ years’ quality management experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Master (LSSM) or Six Sigma Blackbelt (if applicable)
