What You Will Do
The Director of Process Safety will primarily lead the company’s safety program, including both machine safety and occupational safety programs. The responsibilities will include:
Implements with passion and conviction, the health and safety culture of the company
Implements internal programs for pilot plant functional safety
Advises from concept to commissioning of equipment, process, and control scheme design
Works with cross functional engineering teams to advise and inform on designing the best practices with regards to machine, plant, and occupational safety
Works with external engineering firms and EPCs to develop joint safety protocols in construction and operation of high throughput electrowinning plants
Ownership of both prototype and production plant safety programs and protocols
Leads HAZOPs and risk assessments to minimize workplace incidents and hazards
Leads internal hazard mitigation and reporting programs to track and diminish facility hazards
Participates in plant and machine FMEAs
Advises and implements machine facing safety features including guarding, interlocking controls, and corrosion/explosion mitigation strategies
Manages day-to-day administration of programs and serves as the company’s subject matter expert in all things safety
Reads, understands, and complies with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
What We Need You To Bring To The Team
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
15 years’ related experience in safety management, heavy industrial plant safety
Must have a strong understanding of EH&S laws and regulations.
Demonstrated success developing and implementing EH&S programs that meet specific needs of a growing company
Experience advising in large scale plant design to implement best safety practices in the conceptual and project planning phase, as well as major construction site
Expert knowledge of piping system safety, knowledge of ASME B31 pressure piping code
Expert knowledge of hazardous material handling including strong acid and hazardous waste protocols
Expert knowledge of fire code related to flammable gasses, including CGA5.5, NFPA 2 and others
Strong organizational and project management skills, experience in safety program rollout (LOTO, machine guarding, etc.)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office

Experience working in chemical plant, mining or oil and gas environment

Experience working with hydrogen or other flammable gasses
Experience with controls tables and safety interlocking strategies
Compensation
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $150,000-$200,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
