OVERVIEW

San Antonio Sports (SAS) is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded individual to join our team as Director of Marketing and Communications, to serve as the lead on all San Antonio Sports’ event and program marketing and communications activations to generate awareness, drive participation and reach San Antonio Sports funding goals. The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead integrated planning and coordination across departments to achieve the desired promotional outcomes, sponsorship deliverables and attendance goals of San Antonio Sports events and programs. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibility of the Director of Marketing and Communications is to lead the creation, development, planning and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to promote SAS events and programs to include advertising, social media, public relations, and grassroots activations.


  • Work with event and program directors to create and implement a comprehensive traditional, digital and grassroots marketing and communications plan in support of all San Antonio Sports events and community programs.
  • Provide management and oversight of the Marketing Manager, Graphics Design Manager and Sr. Public Relations Manager and interns fulfilling the duties described here. 
  • Manage all budget related line items in the approved budget and work to identify savings, trade opportunities or additional revenue opportunities.
  • Coordinate the local media buy and advertising plan in partnership with local media outlets and advertising firm.
  • Oversee production of SAS advertising and video projects, including developing and writing scripts, managing production, obtaining necessary approvals, ensuring implementation, and providing post-event proof of performance.
  • Identify and leverage partner assets and innovative opportunities that can be used for promotion of San Antonio Sports events.
  • Provide oversight to the Sr. Public Relations Manager, the Marketing Manager and the Graphics Design Manager.
  • Support marketing and communications efforts for national and hosted events.
  • Provide weekly metrics and dashboard on marketing initiatives to track campaign progress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree with at least five (5) years marketing and communications experience, with nonprofit experienced preferred.   Experience working on the marketing and/or public relations strategy and execution of events, community programs or major brand sponsorship portfolio a plus. Must have the ability to meet deadlines and program milestones as well as work alongside, motivate and organize staff, contractors, committee members and volunteers to meet or exceed the goals of San Antonio Sports. Must have technological ability to work on a variety of digital platforms, including development and content management for the organization’s current and future social media needs (i.e. Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging networks). Ability to prioritize efforts in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, and fluid environment while remaining productive and professional.
