The Director of EHS will be an integral part of leading ZincFive’s global manufacturing safety initiatives, including establishing safe product handling procedures both internally and at partner sites, transportation, product design and safety reviews, and supporting our industry marketing, messaging, and involvement in industry forums/groups and trade associations for advancement of battery safety. Reporting to the Sr. VP of Operations at ZincFive, the qualified candidate will develop the global safety strategy along with designing and implementing programs to support ZincFive’s key EHS strategic objectives. This position will work onsite at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon.
Director Of Environmental, Health, & Safety Job Duties
Lead, develop and implement strategic health, safety, and environmental programs and initiatives for ZincFive employees and manufacturing safety aligned with ZincFive’s global business objectives
Lead, develop and implement the global organization’s occupational safety program working closely with Human Resources and other stakeholders
Lead, develop and implement battery safety practices for NiZn battery R&D, battery manufacturing, battery testing and integration, and recycling
Advocate for NiZn safety features with external customers and partners
Lead, develop and implement hazard analysis programs, investigation techniques and training strategies
Build a world class safety team and mentor the staff, encouraging career development
Inspect ZincFive workplaces for adherence to regulations on occupational safety, health, and the environment
Develop safety documents and policies and procedures while ensuring compliance across the organization
Develop and maintain key EHS metrics and consolidate on a monthly ‘scorecard’ for senior management review
Maintain an awareness of all developments in the field of corporate safety and health practices
Liaise with regulatory bodies such as OSHA, EPA etc.
Travel to the battery manufacturing facilities in China as needed
Job Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in safety management, occupational health, or a related field
Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) or other relevant safety or hazardous materials certifications
Experience leading and mentoring staff
Extensive knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
Experience conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Ability to thrive in a small, fast paced and growing company environment and adaptive to change
Ability to travel domestic and internationally as needed
Proficient in MS Office; SAP
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and motivational skills and passionate about driving safety initiatives across a global organization
Preferred Skills
