Job Purpose:


The Director of Content will focus on aligning a company's Content strategy with the overall business strategy as well as being a key people leader in the company. Responsible for managing the Content team; the Director of Content’s Core responsibilities include content, strategic roadmap and execution, resource management, and quality control for multiple divisions, including but not limited to sports and casino.


YOUR CHALLENGE:

1. Content strategy and execution

  • Drive the strategy for both short- and long-term initiatives
  • Set top-level content and revenue strategy for the network in consultation with the relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with content divisions to ensure individual sites have a content mission and are executing that mission (type / frequency of content and goals).
  • Quarterback news content initiatives that stretch across the network, setting priority and coverage goals (e.g., Wire Act, responsible gambling).
  • Keep a top-level view on overall performance from both a traffic and revenue perspective and adjust strategy as necessary.

2. Research and data

  • Maintain a high-level view of the market, staying on top of tech and market trends.
  • Monitor competitor landscape and develop competitor analyses, when needed, with actionable recommendations.
  • Analyze data and develop solutions to improve conversion rate.
  • Work with internal and external teams on research and user behavior. Synthesize results into an actionable strategic plan.
  • Provide regular insights and reports to VP, as requested or on an as needed basis.

3. Product and sites

  • Lead strategies to assess and analyze future opportunities.
  • Manage deployment to meet the strategic goals of the network.
  • Provide direct support between Development, Product and leadership teams.
  • Provide recommendations and insights into the Product roadmap.

4. Site management and goals

  • Establish quarterly goals and ongoing KPI’s with the leadership team. Have ongoing collaboration to ensure they have the necessary resources to meet those goals.
  • Oversee ongoing review of news and evergreen content for relevance and quality. Communicate feedback to divisions in a structured fashion.
  • Work closely with SEO and Commercial on alignment and best practices for organic growth, partnerships, and regulatory standards. Communicate feedback to the team.


Leadership and Team Management:


  • As a people leader, you are a visionary that motivates and encourages members of the entire North American team, and you are responsible for leading, guiding, directing and evaluating the work of leaders on your team; to achieve this, you will;
  • Manage team performance effectively through the practicing of ongoing performance management, including conducting performance reviews and regular 1-1 meetings.
  • Lead by example by delivering positive results and being a visible Catena ambassador.
  • Communicate effectively and ensure information is delivered in a clear and timely manner.
  • Take ownership of recruitment and selection for your team by working closely with HR and TA teams.
  • Enable team and individual growth from induction stage to ongoing learning and development.


TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

  • At least 7+ years of experience in content leadership role within the sports, casino and igaming industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A strategic & creative thinker, with demonstrated success in leading and mentoring content strategy and editorial teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global strategies for products, with a strong understanding of best practice, industry knowledge and compliance requirements
  • Data-driven and detail-oriented with an eye for creating effective executing processes.


Working Conditions:


This position is 100% remote. Must be available regular business hours in your evening and/or weekend work on occasion. Must possess a stable, high-speed internet and working cellular telephone. Must be able to routinely perform indoor work with minimum noise levels. Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence, naturally or electronically and may include adaptive aids. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.


Physical Requirements:


Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 8 hours per day. At times, occasional or weekend work may be required. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities, as may be occasionally asked to travel to sites or events. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
