Director of Construction

Overview: The Director of Project Management Services oversees personnel including Senior Associates, Associates, Analysts (Project Engineers), and Interns, providing project management services as Owner Representatives on construction and development projects. Reporting to the Vice President of Construction, the Director ensures effective delivery of services, departmental profitability, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and coach team members in managing capital projects, promoting teamwork and technical competence.
• Review, modify, and approve all project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Develop department processes, tools, and best practices for uniform and efficient service delivery.
• Identify project risks, conduct constructability reviews, and implement risk mitigation plans.
• Regularly interact with clients to establish and achieve project goals.
• Support sales and marketing efforts to secure new projects and convert prospects to clients.
• Measure and track value addition of services on each project, teaching personnel to do the same.
• Identify professional development needs for team members and arrange necessary training.
• Develop familiarity with construction markets and resources in the Florida area to manage projects effectively.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction.
• 15+ years of experience in project management or construction administration.
• 5 years of experience managing a department or profit center.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, MS Project, project software, and RS Means.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with A/E and contractor perspectives, including procurement, controls, and quality measures.
• Knowledge of zoning, permitting, and construction safety practices.
• Familiarity with industry-standard contracts for architects and contractors.
• Physical ability to perform site visits and willingness to travel as needed.
• Residency in Miami, Florida.
