Director of Business Excellence

Headquartered in Danbury, CT, Canopy Life Sciences is an end-to-end Life Sciences partner to help speed sciences from pipeline to people. We provide clinical to commercial solutions to Life Sciences companies with a goal of accelerating customer success. We provide both strategic and tactical solutions in the areas of Medical Affairs, Regulatory Solutions, MLR Solutions, and Global Recruiting. These areas are supported by our global technology team which offers tech enabled solutions and integrated enterprise help desk and infrastructure support.

Canopy Life Sciences is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Excellence to lead and optimize the Medical Review function. This role is critical in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and compliance of our business unit, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

Develop and refine operations to ensure superior service for clients, leveraging Canopy’s infrastructure to ensure the smooth operation of the medical review department.

Foster continuous innovation within operations, adopting new technologies to stay at the forefront healthcare.

Process optimization continuously assess and improve delivery processes to enhance customer experiences, ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Establish key performance indicators and use them to guide operational improvements.

Project manage, review and analyze activities, costs, and operations data to determine progress towards stated goals and objectives.

Monitor and report on the progress of medical review activities, identifying and addressing any operational challenges.

Establish and maintain robust processes and systems to ensure the smooth operation of the medical review department.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and internal policies.

Process Improvement

Identify, design, and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and deliver process improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.

Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to integrate process improvements and ensure seamless operations.

Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with key stakeholders and clients to align on priorities and ensure effective communication.

Act as a liaison between the Medical Review Solutions team and other departments, facilitating information flow and addressing any issues.

Present operational metrics and improvement initiatives to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

Financial Management

Prepare and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial efficiency in partnership with finance and operations.

Mange capacity planning for the team

Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.

Client Management

Responsible for onboarding of new clients and setting up delivery team to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.

Support team in preparation of MSA and SOWs for client delivery.

Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, or equivalent) required.

Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in operational excellence, process improvement, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

Proven experience leading and optimizing medical affairs or similar functions, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Expertise in process improvement methodologies and project management.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
