Position: Business Development Director
Location: Remote, (Virginia or Maryland)
Salary: $140k - $150k
With over 35 years of innovation in the manufacturing industry, this leading additive manufacturing solutions provider addresses a variety of advanced applications in healthcare and industrial markets.
The Role:
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments and utilize resellers to drive sales strategy.
- Play an active role in the development, implementation, and maintenance at the corporate level.
- Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with customers, ensuring consistent follow-up and support to drive revenue.
- Develops strong knowledge of application capabilities to present a comprehensive overview of offerings.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of current and future products and solutions.
- Balance and manage short-cycle sales opportunities with the sales team and long-cycle business development customer opportunities.
- Develop new prospects from personal research and company-led lead-generation activities targeting the mentioned markets.
- Coordinate with product development to initiate and capitalize on new business opportunities.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, and regulations within the government and military markets.
- Experienced in contract negotiation and execution, comfortable working with legal oversight on customer agreements.
- Communicate and execute sales forecasts and strategic sales plans to management.
- Identify current and future market requirements through ongoing engagements with customers and competitive analysis.
- Attend key shows, expos, and networking events to support the ongoing creation of contacts and knowledge for executing the sales strategy.
- Identify, analyze, and pursue potential strategic partnership relationships that achieve business objectives in the segment.
Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 4-year degree in Business, Economics, or a technically related field.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in a corporate environment working for a global corporation.
- At least 5 years in a business development role with a focus on government and military markets, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, or technology company.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills.
- Vertical market experience (identify, plan, develop, and implement strategy).
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Proven track record of meeting commitments with high ethical standards.
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Innovative thinker, decisive, and capable of leading change.
