We are seeking a Director of Banquets with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees, supervisors, and assistant managers in the Hotel’s Banquet Department to ensure adherence to established cultural and core standards. Engage in long-range strategic planning for the outlet's operation.
Maintain a visible presence in the operation, recognize staff achievements, promote good public relations, and address complaints, concerns, or special requests from guests, clients, and group contacts.
Coordinate set-up requirements for hotel and off-site functions as per the banquet event order. Communicate directly with group contacts, Catering Managers, and Conference Services Managers to ensure all function details are executed. Ensure the quality and timeliness of all food items and provide knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment dedicated to an attentive and distinctive experience.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef, and Director of Catering to design an effective menu and wine list while ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price. Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
Manage labour and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control.
Inspect the physical condition of facilities and equipment in the banquet area, recommending corrections and improvements as needed.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
Three to five years of prior experience in a similar role (luxury properties)
Extensive knowledge of banquet service and labour control
Proficiency in English
Legal authorization to work in the United States
