The Staff Pad is seeking an experienced and dynamic Laboratory Director to lead and manage the activities and functions of our client's Clinical Laboratory in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The Laboratory Director will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of developmentally appropriate patient care, consistent with established professional, regulatory, and governmental standards and guidelines. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive laboratory experience, and a commitment to maintaining excellence in laboratory services.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Plan and direct all activities and functions of the Clinical Laboratory, ensuring high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop, implement, and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the laboratory meets all accreditation and regulatory requirements, including those set by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and other relevant bodies.
  • Staff Management: Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee daily laboratory operations, including the Blood Bank department, ensuring accurate and timely test results and effective workflow.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial goals.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee the procurement and inventory management of laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other hospital departments and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and coordinated patient care.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the laboratory to enhance services, improve patient outcomes, and support hospital goals.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years Acute Care Hospital Laboratory experience, including Blood Bank department experience.
    • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Licenses/Certificates:
    • Licensed as a Medical Technologist or MLT by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.
