Job Description And Duties

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director, Internal Operations, the Director/Chief Information Officer (CIO) directly and through subordinate managers is responsible for the day-to-day administration of all activities related to the planning, organizing and directing of the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). This includes the formulation, operation, and/or evaluation of program policies and processes related to overall IT control for the CPUC. The Director/CIO works closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Directors and senior management team to develop policies, standards, processes, procedures, and tools affecting all programs and activities.

Special Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL OR MENTAL ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with communications-related technologies, including personal computer applications, telecommunications equipment, Internet, voice mail, email, etc.
  • Dress appropriately for a business/government environment.
  • Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such a level as is determined at the Department’s sole discretion.
  • Must be regularly available and willing to work the hours the Department determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
  • Incumbent supervises staff located in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles offices and will be required to regularly travel between thes CPUC facilities within the state to meet business needs.
  • Occasional travel is required to meet with control agencies on special projects.
  • Travel may include evenings, weekends, overnight or several days at a time.
