Position Overview:

Associations and state and local chambers are a critical component of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s membership. As such, the Federation Relations Department works closely with those members to build awareness of top policy issues, generate grassroots momentum, and provide unique programs, information, and services that lead to sustained involvement in our public policy process.


The Director of Federation Development is responsible for membership recruitment and retention of associations and chambers to support revenue goals and organizational programming. This is an inside telephone sales position and requires in-person meetings and extensive research.


Responsibilities:

  • Recruit 5 net new association members per month.
  • Attain revenue goals on a monthly basis.
  • Make sales calls to lapsed association members and prospects. Minimum number of outbound calls per week is 50.
  • Conduct background research on lapsed members and prospects prior to calls.
  • Identify specific benefits of Chamber membership for lapsed and prospect members.
  • Supervise remotely the Chamber development manager, who is located in Dallas, Texas.
  • Oversee all direct lapsed mailing campaigns for both associations and chambers with our outside mail vendor (YGS).
  • Ensure that the Salesforce database is accurate with association and chamber contact information.
  • Send information to lapsed members and prospects as requested or as appropriate following calls.
  • Make follow-up calls to lapsed members and prospects as appropriate and respond to their questions.
  • Create invoices for membership as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience commensurate with the role.
  • 3-5+ years of membership development and superb telephone sales, including the ability to effectively close sales calls.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
  • The ability to follow up and follow through on requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Able to work independently.
  • An understanding of public policy issues and how they affect business.

The salary range for this position is $77,949.00 to $95,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits including healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
