The Opportunity

DAT is looking for a Director, Analytics to lead our analytics team. This position can be based in our Denver, CO office; Beaverton, OR office; or fully remote.

Candidate profile

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Analytics to lead our analytics team and drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data analytics, exceptional leadership abilities, and a strategic mindset. Experience within the logistics industry is preferred.

As the Director of Analytics, you will be responsible for overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to provide actionable insights that support our business objectives and enhance operational efficiency. You will also work directly with customers to structure projects and custom deliverables to solve their critical business problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Develop and implement the overall analytics strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data analysts, analytics consultants, and business intelligence professionals.
    • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Data Management & Analysis
    • Oversee the collection, processing, and storage of large datasets from various sources both internal and external.
    • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all analytics initiatives.
    • Develop and implement advanced data analytics models and algorithms to extract valuable insights.
    • Utilize statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization techniques to provide actionable recommendations.
    • Provide impactful product analytics to help guide decision-making and outcome management in collaboration with the Product teams.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, operations, and product development, to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights.
    • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
    • Act as a liaison between the analytics team and other departments to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Technology & Tools
    • Evaluate and implement the latest analytics tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the analytics function.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data analytics and apply them to improve business processes.
  • Project Management
    • Manage multiple analytics projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
    • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets for analytics initiatives.
The Skills And Experience You’ll Bring

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
    • A Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data analytics, with at least 5-6 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of managing and leading high-performing analytics teams.
    • Extensive experience with data management, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, and Excel.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
    • Knowledge of big data technologies and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
    • Strategic thinking with a focus on business outcomes.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience in supply chain or logistics is preferred, with a focus on the truckload brokerage industry

For Colorado-based candidates, in compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $180,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
