The mission of Yakima Chief Hops’ data science department is to create and maintain data science and analytics tools that enable and encourage our employees, growers, and brewing partners to leverage data in their decision making. Our work enables a data-driven culture that helps make YCH the global hop supplier of choice, and helps to connect family hop farms with the world’s finest brewers, providing the highest quality hop products and uncompromising service for the ultimate benefit of our customers, employees and growers.

A data science internship provides opportunities for aspiring data-engineers, -scientists and -analysts to learn and apply analytical and problem-solving skills to real business applications. As an intern you’ll be assigned at least one independent project and one collaborative project in areas such as:
You will also learn about other areas such as supply chain, manufacturing, finance, etc. since our department’s primary goal is to support many other departments (i.e. internal customers) within our company.
An example of a data analytics project would require an intern to create a new information dashboard in a business intelligence application such as Power BI or Tableau. You will interact with internal customers to gather business requirements and IT to determine data source systems. You will identify the data sources required and implement a software solution that meets the business requirements, gather feedback from the different stakeholders after a period of testing, and adjust the solution if necessary.

Duties
Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
Must adhere to all company policies.
Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
Follow all SOPs in a given area.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
