Pay Range: $20-$22/hour

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Preschool Director the Curriculum Coordinator helps manage and support the YMCA Universal Pre-Kindergarten classes. This includes curriculum development, professional development, classroom observations, data collection and administrative support as well as maintains program quality in accordance with Creative Curriculum philosophy, NYSED guidelines and YMCA program policies. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Supports Teachers to plan and implement quality curriculum for classroom and ensure child-centered age-appropriate lessons are offered, in accordance with NYS Curriculum according to the Office of Early Learning and provided curriculum and YMCA philosophies.
  • Leads curriculum team and prepares UPK scope and sequence using provided Curriculum materials (Creative Curriculum, Foundations, Heggerty & supplemental materials for UPK classes
  • Holds monthly whole staff Curriculum Professional Development
  • Coaches UPK teachers on carrying out assessments
  • Analyzes data from classroom assessments and works with Director on state reporting
  • Observes teachers at least once every 2 weeks
  • Supports Director and staff with technology to be used for essential job functions
  • Enforces and leads all YMCA and/or NYSED policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Acts as classroom support when needed – can take the lead or TA role in any classroom
  • Trains staff on policies and procedures and enforces policies and procedures
  • Travels to all UPK sites (Saratoga Springs City School District and Schuylerville School District) and acts as support when needed - can step in as lead or TA at any time
  • Enforces and leads all YMCA and NYSED policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Enforces and leads all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA and/or NYSED/District policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and our three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  • Ability to articulate and model the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Attends and helps implement all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Wear required and approved uniform items at all time.
  • Assist in Administrative duties as assigned.
  • Assist with training and onboarding staff.
  • Remains a support for staff while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality with office information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or 5+ years in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • 2+ years of childcare experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of NYS Early Learning Standards, NYSED regulations, and mandated reporting.
  • Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications preferred
