Emerald is hiring a Creative Director responsible for the design of the following brands, Couture, JANY, and OMBAS, and supervising design projects for the brand NYNOW. This is a managing position that reports to the VP Creative Services.


The role encompasses design in identity, event graphics, digital media, directories, motion graphic video, and UX web design. Experience from conceptualization through to implementation and final deliverables, creating strategic design direction for the brand portfolio.


The Creative Director will collaborate with Brand Marketers and be responsible for designing complex projects and managing the resource hub designer to execute artwork design and production. Experience in the jewelry and fashion industry is preferred.


This position is a “working designer” and requires flexibility, project management, resource hub staff management, creative intuition, and a passion for brand design.


Participation in collaborating cross-functionally between brands will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in a range of categories and ultimately integrate new ideas that will help shape the brands for the future.


This position can be performed from any of our US-based offices or remotely from anywhere within the US.


Responsibilities


  • Develop brand, event, digital, web, print and design strategies for portfolio and brand markets
  • Manage deadlines and execution of projects
  • Comprehensive presentation of work to Marketing
  • Adjust design execution strategy to meet evolving marketing requirements and maintain awareness of competitors and market trends
  • Attend kick-off meetings, design presentations, internal design reviews
  • Knowledge of business strategy, competitor markets and productions, technologies, and market growth and innovation
  • Energize projects by stimulating innovative, risk-taking ideas and teamwork


Qualifications


  • Execution: Exceptional Brand knowledge and ability to evolve the brands’ visual identity
  • Collaborative Communications: Strong track record leveraging collaborative leadership in a matrix organization to get things done, collaborate with senior leaders, sales and marketing staff to conceptualize and brainstorm innovative brand experience
  • Influence: Provide thought leadership and consulting to develop print, production and digital strategy.
  • Decision Quality and Judgement: Strong visual composition skills. Ability to adapt with changing needs and meet deadlines. Exceed quality goals. Strong experience driving brand strategy
  • Multimedia Experience: Experience with latest trends, technologies and methodologies in web design, social media, digital design and motion graphic production.
  • Innovation & External Orientation: Knowledge of design stacks, information architecture, and languages. Ability to adjust design execution and strategy to meet evolving Marketing and Sales requirements.
  • Technical Design Acumen: Expertise with all necessary design software, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and WordPress. Excel under tight deadlines and can handle multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to lead effective presentations and pitches.
  • Ability to provide logic and reasoning as well as defend design solutions and strategic direction.
  • Ability to manage and provide coaching and professional development to the resource hub designers seeking to improve their design skills, communications, and strategy skills

Additional Preferred Requirements

  • Strong portfolio in jewelry and fashion graphic design with experience in interactive / web design projects
  • Formal full-time UI/UX designer or developer experience (WordPress/Divi)
  • Professional training and certifications

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Target Compensation: $90,000-95,000

Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate’s qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
