Essential Functions
As a member of the Corporate Communications team, the Corporate Communications Specialist will be responsible for supporting the corporate brand reputation and initiating communication strategies that enhance the employee and corporate stakeholder experience. With a special focus on internal and executive communications and digital platform management, this role will also support employer brand and thought leadership campaigns.
This position will play a key role by managing and executing successful campaigns across corporate social media pages, websites and internal communications channels. He/She will create content for intranet stories, executive messaging, corporate videos, social media posts, associate town halls, annual meeting, FAQs, keynote presentations, speeches, and responses to NGO’s and other external entities ensuring brand consistency and quality. The role also requires experience in executive communications, event planning and an ability to create compelling messages with strong visual storytelling tools (photography, video, graphics, etc.).
Additionally, this position will provide cross-divisional communications expertise and counsel to ensure that all corporate communications are consistent in delivery and design and that they convey appropriate positioning of Wakefern’s business philosophy and service priorities. He/she will develop and execute communications plans in support of corporate and employee branding strategies that increase employee engagement, and authentically communicate Wakefern’s unique culture to attract top talent.
The Communications Specialist will work closely with freelancers (video, graphics, and photography) and writers and coordinate with outside agencies.
In addition to possessing excellent written and oral skills, this person needs to have an in-depth understanding of best-in-class corporate communications practices, proficiency in podcast development, still photography, video scripting and be digitally savvy. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface well and confidently with external stakeholders, and associates at all levels within the organization, including senior staff and membership. The person must be detail oriented, business savvy, able to meet tight deadlines, work on multiple projects simultaneously, establish production schedules and budgets, and operate in a team environment to accomplish goals.
Qualifications
- BA/MA degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or a related discipline
- Exceptional writing and editing skills for a variety of platforms/audiences
- Proven track record in social media strategy and successful tactical execution
- Experience working with company podcasts and websites
- Employee communication campaigns and intranet management expertise
- Experience developing and supporting executive communications
- Coordinate logistics and develop content for annual and emerging trends meetings, special events, and employee town halls
- Interface with graphic designers and technical support team to accomplish projects and tasks
- Create concepts and manage production of videos with support team
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and to work independently
- Ability to manage external vendors and freelancers
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to keep information confidential
- Project management skills
- Strong PowerPoint skills
- Oversee that deliverables and timelines are achieved; ensure efficient flow of information and communication within the team.
- Develop and utilize reporting metrics that measure effectiveness of communications campaigns and platforms
- 5 to 7 years proven writing/journalism experience in a corporate communications environment or public relations firm or equivalent experience.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Ability to monitor computer screens for long periods of time
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule, with a current requirement of 4 days in person, as established by the division
- Ability to flex hybrid schedule to attend important meetings, video/photography shoots or store visits based on business needs
- Some regional travel required
