Job Summary

The Controller management role and is responsible for accounting information technology functions, worldwide. This role plans and directs all accounting operations, including the management of all financial activities, monthly closing and financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. This role is responsible for oversight and management of Information Technology (IT) and related service providers.

Controller

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of overall Finance and Accounting vision and strategies that align with and support the overall company vision, mission, and strategies; contribute to overall company strategic planning.
  • Manage, mentor and develop General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions to achieve technical and professional excellence.
  • Manage month-end close process, including review of financial statements and actual versus budget performance analysis.
  • Ensure all estimates, accruals, reserves and provisions are calculated and supported with appropriate back-up and in accordance with US GAAP; review and ensure timely completion of all account reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statement package, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statement and financial analysis.
  • Oversee the Company’s treasury function, ensuring sufficient available funds for weekly AP payments, sign checks, and review and release electronic payments.
  • Oversee preparation and/or filing of state, local and other statutory tax returns.
  • Oversee the costing of purchased inventory and manufactured finished goods, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to capture landed costs and applied overhead; manage and maintain accuracy and completeness of inventory records, identify and resolve discrepancies, and reconcile inventory balances to physical counts (year-end physical count).
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP; research and assist in implementing new accounting guidance as applicable to the business.
  • Oversee annual financial statement audit and other external audits.
  • Support preparation of annual budget and periodic re-forecasts in coordination with CFO.
  • Oversee commercial insurance renewal process and policies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside stakeholders, including bankers, insurance brokers, auditors and tax advisors.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • Provide oversight and direction to staff to meet stated company and department goals, oversee and manage current and accurate standard product costs and operational overhead expenses.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding and application of US GAAP, internal controls and system view of accounting processes and procedures; strong business acumen; proficiency in database and accounting computer application systems; excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • 10+ years of related accounting experience required.
  • CPA license preferred.

Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • Periodic access / communication outside normal business hours.
  • Standard business environment.
  • Bending, and reaching forward, sideways, and overhead; finger dexterity to perform functions on computer and access files; sitting for long periods at a time.
  • Work Location: Position is eligible for hybrid work (in office + remote); on-site time in offices highly valued and desired; onsite presence may be required from time to time based on needs of the business or for specific in-person meetings/gatherings
