Currently we have a Controller role open with our Mid-Atlantic location in Ashland, VA. This position is responsible for the maintenance of fiscal records, policies and procedures that provide internal control over financial reporting, preparation of the operating budget and tax compliance.
Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures that provide internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP] and JSOX.
Responsible for all credit related functions from approvals to collections.
Actively involved with the Branch Managers in assisting them in business activities to better understand and assist in their absence.
Be an integral part of the management team by providing financial leadership / accounting and business support to all the dealership locations and dealership management team.
Closely monitor and report monthly financial performance, analyze and comment as to variances to budget or forecasts.
Lead person as to interaction with external auditors, responsible for preparation of materials and answering related questions arising from the audit as to dealership operations and accounting.
Preparation of all budgets, forecasts and other short/long term financial planning strategies.
Identify areas of opportunities and or improvements within the dealership and work with the appropriate departments to implement the necessary processes and procedures.
Interact closely with corporate accounting to ensure appropriate accounting of intercompany transactions and to resolve related issues as they arise. Provide all required tax information to parent company for preparation of Federal and state income tax returns.
Work with local, state and federal governing bodies and tax authorities to ensure proper recognition of adherence to applicable laws and regulations, as well as to resolve any tax or legislature issues related to distributor operations.
Ensure appropriate inventory controls at all branch locations are in place and being complied with and to direct the annual or semiannual physical inventory counts and each location.
Work with all departments to ensure the most efficient use of dealership operating system and IT resources.
Perform periodical assessment if dealership IT recourses and equipment to determine compatibility with needs and work with corporate IT department to replace that which no longer meets those needs.
Responsible for the initial review and final development of all contracts / agreements related to dealership operations.
General Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting
At least 3-5 years of related experience with increasing responsibility in manufacturing or retail environment.
Prior management or supervision experience preferred.
