Controller

OVERVIEW: A recharged sports supplements wholesale distributor is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. The candidate will also be responsible for driving process improvements, adapting processes and staffing to changing business needs, managing fiscal period closes, audits and more. Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the accounting team including the establishment and prioritization of assignments and handling of escalated customer/vendor relations issues, GL coding decisions, etc.
  • Ensure journal expense entries comply with GAAP
  • Ensure revenue and receivables are booked in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage customer bad debt/collections/write offs and related accounting
  • Support suppliers and internal business with respect to questions on expenses and payments
  • Produce monthly financial reports
  • Assist in budget and forecast preparation
  • Day to Day banking liaison
  • Process bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Control expenses and accounts payable spend and discounts and provide a system of cost reporting
  • Manage fixed assets ledger and capital expenditures
  • Manage audit process and related financial controls
  • Provide daily/weekly reporting on key financial performance metrics.
  • Other accounting-related and management duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE REQUESTED: * 10+ years of accounting experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing/distribution setting with previous management/supervisor level experience
  • CPA is a plus
  • Has public company experience is a plus
  • Ability to effectively manage a diverse team in a high-volume, large enterprise environment
  • Previous experience with process improvement, corporate projects and initiatives preferred
  • Strong vendor relations, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills * Expert MS Excel knowledge required, JD Edwards experience preferred and previous experience administering an online expense report system such as Concur or similar helpful
  • Able to manage confidential information, multiple tasks as well as exercise good judgment and problem solving skills
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with vendors, employees, other departments and management; Strong organizational skills
