Configuration Management Specialist Role

 

The Configuration Management Specialist owns management of change processes and administers and stores essential business documentation in support of new commercial nuclear reactor projects. This individual may assist in all areas of configuration management to include Requirements Management, Design Control, Document and Records Management, and Issue and Change Management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· The Configuration Management Specialist will be responsible for providing configuration management support, mostly focused on procurement configuration management. Duties include:

· Review and management of engineering documentation that defines supplier requirements on a purchase order.

· Configuration Management (CM) and change control processes for specific procurement or project related activities; provide CM procurement consultation to business team.

· Support processing supplier documentation from the issuance of a purchase order until the documentation is submitted as a record in the GEH Records Repository.

· Perform Responsible Configuration Management (RCM) reviews of technical documentation ensuring that the documentation meets all the CM requirements for submittal.

· Become proficient in the plant product structure within product lifecycle management (PLM) system.

· Support GEH and customer/external party interaction and maintain process-related collaboration sites using company provided tools.

· Develop in-depth knowledge of CM process and tools within assigned area of responsibility.

· Create, upload, and manage records in the PLM tool.

· Support business in reporting and tracking activities and in preparation of presentations and reports.

· Ensure assignments are implemented on time, with high quality, in accordance with approved policies, plans, or procedures.

· Have a clear understanding and implementation of applicable nuclear regulations, industry standards, and company practices related to CM.

· Participate in CM related activities with interfacing internal groups [e.g., other engineering teams, Project Management, Sourcing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs] as well as external organizations [e.g., parent company entities, partners, suppliers, regulators]

· Perform as an individual contributor in a team environment to deliver on initiatives and activities related to CM.

· Perform general administrative duties as required or assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree (OR a High School Diploma / GED with relevant years of configuration management or procurement experience)

· Relevant experience in configuration management as a practice or specialty OR procurement as a practice or specialty.

· Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Acrobat Professional to create / modify PDF files.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Excellent written communication skills.

· Work well in a team environment; able to be calm, open, and inclusive in dynamic situations.

· Familiarity with nuclear (e.g., NRC) regulations, quality assurance culture.

· Familiarity with a variety of configurable commercial off the shelf (COTS) configuration, document, and requirements management solutions (e.g., Oracle ERP, Documentum, Confluence, Support-Central Tool Suite, ENOVIA, DOORS Next).

· CM experience in a highly regulated industry, the nuclear industry, at a national laboratory, or a governmental agency.

· Records management experience and CM or quality assurance experience in construction, manufacturing, operations, or engineering process requirements documents (e.g., plans, procedures, instructions, guide, training manuals).

· Self-starter with energy, positive “Can-Do” attitude able to energize others with legacy of delivering on commitments and stretch goals with proven track record of accomplishments in a fast-paced environment producing quality deliverables.

· Ability to work with little supervision.

· Inclusive professional style – Adaptive, able to quickly learn diverse and varying organizational interfaces (e.g., cross functional, across business within same company, across different companies including customer, partners, and suppliers, regulator, third party auditors).

· Experience using LEAN continuous process improvement techniques and tools.

· Ability to manage time and work on multiple projects.

· Experience with GE documentation systems, practices, and requirements.




This is a contractual role for a period of 12 months with possibility of extension with no benefits.
