Responsibilities

NYCHA APUM is seeking to hire a Community Associate to support its Vendor Assistant Unit. The Unit services and responds to NYCHA developments in all five boroughs ensuring invoices and other necessary payments are prepared and reviewed for payment. This division works with all NYCHA vendors and developments on behalf of NYCHA. The Community Associate role will be under general supervision of the unit Assistant Director and responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Identify issues in invoice processing and flag with appropriate parties responsible for resolution.
  • Develop relationships with vendors as a key point of contact for vendor to resolve issues and inquiries.
  • Perform difficult and responsible clerical operations.
  • Represent NYCHA in a professional and collaborative manner when engaging with property managers and vendors.
  • Assist in planning and research on matters relating to prevailing wage rates charged by NYCHA vendors in connection with the Davis Bacon and Related Acts.
  • Process, track and report all approved TPA and RAB expenditures, including but not limited to stipend, travel, goods, consultant services and vendor invoices for payment.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Preferred Skills

  • Education: A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent an associate degree in accounting, psychology, finance, or similar degrees is preferred 2. Experience: 1+ years working in accounts payable processing field 3. Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer 4. Knowledge of MarkView and Oracle systems 5. Ability to work with a large volume of invoices 6. Reporting and research skills are a plus
