Commercial Counsel [5 month contract - Hybrid]

Legal.io is working with a tech company seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel. This is a hybrid, 5 month, contact position which requires 3 days a week on-site in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

Work to be done:

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of vendor and marketing agreements.
• Work with internal clients to advise on negotiation strategy and ensure the contemplated legal terms will meet business needs over the long term
• Work with cross-functional teams to get contracts to signature - ensuring all requirements for onboarding a new third party are met prior to contract approval.
• Collaborate with other members of the legal team and internal stakeholders on ad-hoc projects

Requirements:

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in at least one US jurisdiction (NC or CA preferred).
• A minimum of 4+ years of in-house or combined in-house/law firm experience negotiating complex software as a service (SAAS), Professional Services agreements, and/or marketing agreement.
• A confident, effective and positive negotiator who can lead the process, focus on important issues, and efficiently bring deals to a favorable close.
• Ability to engage with business owners and get up to speed quickly on the technical and strategic requirements of a project.
• Knowledge of information security and data privacy and protection issues.
• Good judgment and the ability to think through legal risk in practical, real-world terms.
• Familiarity and comfortable with technology solutions to manage workload and client communication, including JIRA, Ironclad and Slack.
• Relevant experience working in tech.
• Diligent and proactive, you have demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment, technical acumen, communication skills and strategic thinking, along with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.

Hours: 40 Hours / Week

Duration: 5 Months (From 8/2/2024 until 1/1/2025)

Hourly Pay Rate: $90-$100 / hour ($180,000 - $200,000 annualized)
