The Clinical Value Analysis Program Manager guides the review and selection of product, services, and technology based on cost, quality, and patient outcome data. The role requires effective leadership and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, deliver high quality results, and improve the cost of care at Boston Medical Center.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties
Identifies utilization improvement and waste reduction opportunities with a focus on safety, efficiency and affordability; leads initiatives to delivery results.
Reviews and/or oversees review of new product requests; completes clinical product cross matches, and cost analysis for consideration by VAT; oversees coordination of product evaluations and ensures education is complete prior to evaluation and/or permanent adoption.
Facilitates consensus among clinical stakeholders; determines and resolves barriers.
Determines acceptable clinical substitutes for items recalled or on backorder; consults appropriate clinical stakeholders as needed.
Investigates product failures; works with vendors and internal stakeholders to determine root causes and implement solutions.
Partners on quality improvement initiatives where vendor goods and services are utilized.
Negotiates with Vendors to achieve best possible price/utilization of approved products, equipment, or services that support patient care.
Assists in annual cost reduction plan development and delivers results based on plan; creates presentations to share data and engage stakeholders in decisions.
Participates in the planning and implementation of new technologies, procedures, and services to support day-to-day operations and clinical practice.
Education
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required
License to practice professional nursing as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Clinical licensure in other specialties will be considered with appropriate experience.
Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Value Analysis Health Professional (CVAHP), or similar credential preferred.
Experience
5+ years patient care experience in a hospital setting
2+ years value analysis and/or strategic sourcing
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (ksa)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; detail oriented in all notes and documentation.
Intermediate to advanced skill in use of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, etc.
Ability to achieve targeted results through influence, negotiation, and delegation.
Knowledge of materials management, purchasing, contracting, and vendor management functions.
Establish and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships with vendors, physicians, nurses and other stakeholders.
Knowledge of medical terminology and applications.
Analytical skills necessary to make sound recommendations based on data. Able to develop summary information that is current and accurate.
