We are looking for a great COO to help our growing team with the crucial operational work needed for the organization to succeed. Operations experience is a requirement for this role. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience in senior operations roles.
About the Role:
Start Date: January 2025 (can be flexible)
Status: Full-time Employee
Compensation: Based on experience and living location, but ranging between $90k-160k
Typical Hours: Full-time, flexible schedule but needs to be available most days between 8 -11 am Pacific time.
Work Location: Remote
Responsibilities: This is a senior operations role, where the COO will primarily oversee and execute on operational tasks to support our entire organization. Responsibilities include (but are not exclusive to):
System Oversight:
Maintain and optimize systems in place (Bloomerang, Deel, task management system, knowledge management system, etc.)
Implement any new systems that are needed
Oversight Duties:
Hiring:
Oversee documentation
Develop and execute onboarding plans
Manage offboarding processes
Financial Oversight:
Draft budgets and financial plans
Oversee financial operations
Ensure compliance with HR policies
Manage insurance and 401k plans
Compliance:
Oversee immigration policies
Oversee oversees hiring and contractor relations and agreements
Act as the primary contact with auditors and oversee the audit process
Cybersecurity
Benefits, management, and payroll
Process and Impact Management:
Maintain and improve routines and processes
Manage impact assessment
Team Management:
Set and manage OKRs (Objectives and Key Results)
Directly manage:
Fundraising Manager
Program Coordinator
Administrative Manager
Communications Manager
Board meeting participation and prep work
Lead weekly operations calls
Strategy and Miscellaneous Administration:
Lead budget meetings
Develop and implement organizational strategy
Oversee various administrative tasks as needed
Deal with miscellaneous compliance questions
Skills Required:

Is responsible and well-organized

Can manage multiple work streams and prioritize accordingly
Is able to handle a fast-paced environment
Is interested in learning new things
Has excellent verbal and written skills at a native English-speaking level
Project management experience
A scientific background and technological experience is a plus
Experience creating and managing budgets is a plus
