Job Description

Medical Provider Resources, the largest credentialing and provider enrollment company in Kansas, is seeking to replace its current CEO, who is retiring at the end of this year. MPR, a for-profit affiliate of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County, supports healthcare providers, group practices, facilities and networks by responding efficiently to the growing demands for credentialing and provider enrollment services. The CEO is responsible for providing strategic leadership and for the overall success of MPR. Three positions report directly to the CEO: the Director of Primary Source Verification, Director of Provider Enrollment and Business Manager. But the CEO provides direct leadership to all employees and is responsible for promoting and maintaining a healthy and positive workplace culture.

The CEO reports operationally to the Executive Director of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County and serves at the pleasure of the MPR Board of Directors, which approves long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.

The preferred start date is mid-December.

Education And Experience

A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree in administration is preferred. Extensive knowledge and experience within healthcare credentialing is required, and CPCS or CPMSM certification recognized by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) is preferred. The CEO must participate in activities to remain current on emerging credentialing and provider enrollment trends. Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed, as are attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Vision, Mission and Board of Directors

  • Coordinate the development of MPR’s business development, strategic direction, vision and objectives, including potential expansion plans.
  • Participate in the development of MPR as a strategic partner in creating credentialing and provider enrollment efficiencies within Wichita and throughout the Midwest.
  • Assure that MPR and its mission, programs and essential services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders, including providers, clients, MPR team and Board members.
  • Provide support to the Board of Directors and be the primary liaison between the Board and the MPR team.
  • Establish credibility throughout the Medical Society of Sedgwick County and MPR and with the Board of Directors as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.

Management and Organizational Objectives

  • Set clear behavioral expectations and performance objectives for direct reports and

develop their supervisory skills for exceeding expectations and achieving objectives.

  • Participate in the selection, onboarding, retention and appraisal of MPR team members.
  • Provide direct leadership of all employees to meet/exceed organization performance goals and expectations of MPR customers, clients and participating entities.
  • Perform autonomously and have a high degree of flexibility to adapt to changing projects, priorities and work volumes.
  • Provide continuity and effectively communicate changes and transition of processes to the MPR team.

Employee Engagement

  • Create a company culture that encourages the recruiting and retention of qualified employees.

Fiscal Management

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the fiscal viability of MPR while ensuring MPR operates successfully within the established budget. Oversee the adequacy and soundness of MPR’s financial structure.
  • Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to the Executive Director of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County and MSSC Controller in the development of annual budgets.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting MPR.
  • Coordinate all IT resources needed for the MPR team to perform proficiently and efficiently.

Operations Management

  • Identify risks and ensure appropriate strategies are implemented to address threats to the fiscal viability of the company.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduce new programs/strategies and respond to regulatory requirements as they relate to provider enrollment and hospital credentialing standards of the participating entities.
  • Stay current with trade and industry conditions and the potential impact on MPR’s policies and operations.
  • Oversee the design, marketing, promotion, delivery risk management and quality of all services provided by MPR.
