Einstein is one of the nation’s premier research-intensive medical schools. It is home to more than 2,000 full-time faculty members who promote research and academic excellence at the College of Medicine. In addition to conducting research in the institution's 300 laboratories, Einstein’s faculty serve as mentors and teachers to the medical school's 740 MD students, 194 PhD students, 118 MD/PhD students, and 240 postdoctoral research fellows. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Developmental and Molecular Biology (DMB). We seek a nationally-recognized scientist with broad experience and vision for leading the Department of DMB.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to recruit new faculty to the Department and expand and develop its research programs.
Established in 1965, the Department is currently composed of 10 primary and 14 secondary tenure-track faculty, whose research focuses on the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms in development, aging, regeneration and disease, using diverse model systems including Drosophila, zebrafish, and mice (https://einsteinmed.edu/departments/developmental-molecular-biology/). A diversity of research is a major strength of the Department, and includes disease areas such as aging, hematology, neurology, virology, oncology, and cardiovascular and renal disease, as well as cell biological processes such as autophagy, viral assembly, tumorigenesis, epithelial polarity, and macrophage, neutrophil and hematopoietic stem cell biology. This is bolstered by extensive interactions and collaborations between faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Einstein offers an extremely interactive environment with numerous, well-equipped core facilities subsidized by the College (http://www.einsteinmed.edu/home/shared.asp).

Must possess a M.D or Ph.D. Degree

Minimum Salary Range
USD $300,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary Range
USD $350,000.00/Yr.
